Drake may have a special relationship with Nicki Minaj and Rihanna, but no other woman touches his heart like the late singer Aaliyah. Now, after years of singing and rapping her praises, Drake may soon end up on a record with Aaliyah.

During a recent interview with Tim Westwood, Drake hinted at a collaboration.

“I have some great Aaliyah news coming soon. Some special things,” said Drizzy, who remained tight-lipped about whether it had to do with a rumored posthumous project of her unreleased material. “Just some special things, you know. Great things for music, period.”

Drake then shared his reason for loving the R&B chanteuse. “I think more than anything Aaliyah always made music that was never uncomfortable for me to listen to,” he said.

“You know it’s hard for me to ride around to a female singer because at the end of the day, you’re a man, but she always kept it so G with the writing and the melodies,” he explained. “It was something to ride to, especially when it was chopped and screwed. That’s when I used to love Aaliyah the most.”

Hopefully this Drake and Aaliyah collaboration comes together and regardless of who’s album it ends up on, we’re sure it’ll be one to remember. But it wouldn’t be the first hot collaboration for Aaliyah. Check out five of her greatest collaborations below. –nicholas robinson
