R&B has a lengthy and proud tradition of male singers that elevated the genre commercially and artistically. From early pioneers like Jackie Wilson and Clyde McPhatter, to legendary names like Marvin Gaye and Otis Redding, to contemporary superstars like R. Kelly and Maxwell–there are countless artists that can lay claim to being among the greatest the rhythm and blues genre has ever offered.


And then–there are those other guys.


The guys who came and went. Or the guys who came and never “went,” no matter how bad you may have wanted them to.

There have been more than a few painfully-cornball R&B singers over the years. So we decided to count down the 10 lamest. No offense intended, and some of these guys are fairly successful.


But that doesn’t mean they aren’t corny…
