Jay-Z Partnering With Pharrell’s Billionaire Boys Club

Jay-Z and Pharrell have both already made their stamps in the fashion world with their clothing lines Rocawear and Billionaire Boys Club. Now the two are apparently joining forces as Jay-Z partners with Pharrell’s Billionaire Boys Club.

On Aug. 3, GQ reported that Jay-Z’s hip-hop brand, Rocawear, had acquired the licensing to manufacture and distribute Pharrell’s high-end urban-alternative BBC line.

Although it was assumed that the Roc Nation general would be pulling a complete business takeover, the report claimed that Hov and Skateboard P will be banding together to run the fashion line, “utilizing Jay-Z’s business prowess and Pharrell’s creativity.”

However, Jay-Z took to Twitter later that day to clarify the report, claiming that he didn’t purchase BBC, but, instead, was partnering with the Pharrell on the line.

“”Partnering with @4real4rell on BBC” follow him.. (Not “buying” as GQ erroneously reported.)” tweeted Jay-Z.

With Rocawear being one of the few streetwear lines, alongside Diddy’s Sean John label, still thriving in today’s fashion industry, this new partnership will more than likely secure a long life span for Pharrell’s BBC. – nicholas robinson
