The video for Juicy J’s career-revitalizing single, “Bandz A Make Her Dance” may cost him more money than he ever imagined.

Videographer Mahad Dar and his company Creative Dream Productions are suing Juicy and Columbia Records for unauthorized use of footage shot by them for the video. Just before the shoot was to take place, word came that Lil Wayne, who was a guest on the best-selling song, would not be able to attend the shoot, and the film company mistakenly interpreted Wayne’s absence to mean the shoot would be canceled altogether leaving behind the footage that had already been shot.

According to Madame Noire:

Ultimately, the “Bandz A Make Her Dance” shoot took place on Aug. 26, 2012. Mahad Dar was the principal photographer for the video and originally the sole owner of the video footage. But he says he would own the rights until he and Juicy J came to a financial agreement and any copyrights could be handed over to the rapper. … Creative Dream Production demands that Juicy J stop selling his song. The company is also requesting all the profits made from the song and video.

“Bandz A Make Her Dance” presently has over 34 million YouTube hits and has been certified as a platinum seller, having sold more than one million copies.
