Justin Timberlake Says Thanks to Snub, Collabo With Jay-Z Unlikely

Jay-Z has collaborated with a number of artists, bringing his Brooklyn, N.Y., swagger and top-notch lyrics to a number of hit songs. However, according to Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z snubbed him when he asked to collaborate with him years ago and now Timberlake says that he’s no longer interested in working with Jay-Z.

According to Contact Music, in the latest issue of Vanity Fair, Timberlake explains that during the recording sessions for his last album, 2006’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, he asked the Roc Nation emcee for a guest verse but was told by Jay-Z that he was too busy.

“Jay-Z has put out 11 albums, and I was talking about doing a collaboration with him, and he said, ‘I can’t do it right now, but I’ll get you on the next album,’ said Timberlake. “I was like, ‘No, man, I don’t work like that. This sounded good to me for you and me to do together, and if it doesn’t work, then I totally get it, but I won’t be putting an album out next year; these aren’t a dime a dozen to me.’ ”

Throughout his solo career and his stint with popular boy band, *NSYNC, Timberlake has collaborated with a slew of hip-hop artists including Timberland, Nelly, 50 Cent and The Neptunes. Hopefully, one day, Timberlake will be able to add Jay-Z to that list of artists. –nicholas robinson
