Young Money talks about new compilation album

With the massive success of Young Money’s Drake, Nicki Minaj, and even Tyga since their debut compilation album, We Are Young Money, in 2009, it was only a matter of time before the collective would regroup for another round.

This time around, in addition to the three breakout stars previously mentioned, Young Money is hoping that this new album titled, Young Money: Rise of an Empire will help launch the solo careers of some of its other acts, including Gudda Gudda, Christina Milan, Lil Twist, Shanell, and their latest signee, Euro.

Young Money COO Cortez Bryant says the label is as hungry as ever: “This compilation is a very special release for the label. We Are Young Money helped launch the careers of our first generation of acts with Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Tyga,” says Bryant. “Even though we’ve been honored with accolades as a company, our hunger hasn’t diminished or dwindled. We’re hungrier than ever, and we’re still building. That goes hand-in-hand with the title Young Money: Rise of an Empire. We’re not going anywhere. We don’t plan on stopping — ever. Our goal is the expansion of this empire with the next generation of kings and queens ruling.”

Label head Lil Wayne is excited for this project and the future of his YM empire: “There’s nothing like it when the whole family gets together in the studio,” Wayne says. “YMCMB is stronger than ever, and everybody was truly on fire. We’re all blessed to be a part of this incredible empire as it continues to thrive. I can’t wait for what’s next. Keep watching.”

“We Alright” will be the first single from the new album. The song features Wayne, Birdman, and Euro. Also included on the project will be Drake’s mix show favorite, “Trophies.”

Young Money: Rise of an Empire will be released March 11.
