In a surprising development, rapper Ludacris has won primary custody of his 1-year-old daughter, Cai Bella.

As previously reported, the rapper-actor, whose legal name is Chris Bridges, has been engaged in a nasty court battle with his alleged mistress Tamika Fuller, regarding their 13-month-old daughter, Cai. On Monday, however, Judge Dorothy Downs brought an end to the drama with a shocking ruling.

“After a review of all the evidence, the testimony of the witnesses, the report of the guardian ad litem, and the claims made throughout this entire case, I am gratified that the judge found me to be the most fit and proper parent to have primary physical custody of our beautiful daughter,” Bridges, 37, told PEOPLE.

During the ongoing litigation, Fuller asked for an increase in Bridges’ child support payments from $7,000 to $15,000 a month and dropped a bomb when she claimed that Bridges initially tried to bribe her with a home and $10,000 to terminate the pregnancy. The “Chicken and Waffles” recording artist fought back, saying Fuller’s comments were damaging his reputation and underlining the reasons he would be a more fit guardian for Cai.

Fuller took it one step further, by alleging that the Furious 7 star’s marriage to his his longtime love, Eudoxie Mbouguiyengue, was a ploy to gain an upper hand over her in their custody battle.

What’s odd about the case is that the judge did not issue a joint ruling.

Rumor has it, Fuller ruined her chances at custody when reports surfaced that she disappeared for a few years after the birth of her eldest daughter, leading to questions about child abandonment. Fuller’s expenses were shown to be four times her $800 monthly salary, which also may have impacted the judge’s decision.

How do you feel about Judge Downs’ ruling? Was it fair?
