Mannie Fresh dissed Master P at the Beat Summit

2008 NBA All-Star Finale Party: Hot Boyz Reunion Hosted by Juvenile, BG, Wayne and Mannie Fresh

Hip-hop super producer Mannie Fresh decided to get something off of his chest during a recent public appearance. At the Beat Summit in Atlanta with T.I. and several others, the former Cash Money Records beat maker aired out another famous product of the New Orleans rap scene. Fresh got on the microphone and slammed No Limit Records founder Master P.

“F— Master P,” Fresh says in video footage that surfaced of the event. “I don’t give a f— about that. I’m doing me.”

“Yeah, I said it,” Fresh adds. “Quote it. I ain’t gonna take it back.”

Fresh didn’t specify exactly why he has a beef with Master P, but he indicated a couple of years back that he felt Master P ripped off his signature song “Bout It.” According to Fresh, at the time, P got the hook from a song by an early Cash Money Records song by U.N.L.V., a group that Fresh was affiliated with earlier in his career.

“The group U.N.L.V., on Cash Money had a song called ‘Bout It,’ and it was the hot hot song at the time,” Fresh told Red Bull Music Academy in 2011. “Master P, he’s from New Orleans, but at the time he was living in Richmond, California or something. He came down one summer and visited and the next thing you know there’s this song “Bout It Bout It” out. We were pissed off to the highest.”
