Meek Mill Harassed by Police

For Meek Mill, the phrase Dreams & Nightmares is more than just a telling album title, it’s an appropriate statement about his life, thus far, full of ghetto nightmares and dreams of moving out of that nightmare into hip-hop success. And, although, the latter seems to be coming true for the Philly emcee, who just dropped his debut album on Tuesday, Oct. 30, Meek recently fell back into his land of nightmares when he was detained by Philly police on the day after his album’s release.

Meek revealed his run-in with police via his Twitter page, sending out a photo of himself sitting in a police station with the message, “cops cost me a lot of money tonight …..taking pics of me like I’ma f—kin joke….no charges just holding. My lawyer needs answers.”

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, Meek was detained after police stopped a vehicle he was in on 1100 W. Girard Avenue last night around 8 p.m.

“He was not arrested,” said Philiadelphia Police spokeswoman Julian Russell. “He was stopped in a vehicle but was not arrested. He was only detained in a substation. In normal cases, we do not give out this kind of information, so I can’t release anything further.”

However, the MMG star claims that he was “violated” and detained by police because he’s a famous rapper.

“I ain’t get locked up…definitely not in NYC with no gun! Cops just harassed and violated me last night in Philly just for being famous!” he tweeted.

Meek was also none too pleased that police put handcuffs on him, right next to luxury watch.

“The crazy part about is I really had a handcuff and Rolex on my wrist yesterday…. Really #DreamsAndNightmares,” he tweeted.

Well, despite Meek’s nightmarish run-in with police, his music dreams are far from being stalled. Despite Hurricane Sandy upsetting album sales as well as several businesses, Meek’s Dreams & Nightmares is expected to sell more than 175,000 copies, putting him in optimal position to land at the No. 1 spot on next week’s Billboard 200 chart.

Unfortunatley, Meek isn’t the only rapper to have a bad run-in with police. Check out some other hip-hop run-ins with cops below. – nicholas robinson
