Miguel Warns Competitors: 'I Will F--k You Up'

Miguel may have been a gentle lover when he entered the music scene a few years ago, but now he’s claiming he’s a raging fighter – that is if you ever try to copy his style.

Miguel, who is currently working on his follow up to his 2010 debut All I Want Is You, recently did an interview with Mina SayWhat on Philadelphia radio station Power 99 to talk about his new material.

“I would describe it as being progressive in the sense that I’m taking a lot of my more alternative influences and incorporating them,” said Miguel, who’s eclectic new Art Dealer Chic EP trilogy has the industry and fans alike buzzing over his mesmering new sound.

“‘Adorn’ is a great segway because it’s very soulful, but still has some alternative elements,” he said. “I think that’s what makes it really cool. It’s a very honest representation of where I’m at, but it’s just a segway.”

But Miguel’s mood quickly changed from that excitement to ruthless steel as he warned any other singers thinking of stealing his style to stay in their own lanes.

“I’m just gonna say, ‘Don’t nobody out there step into my f—kin’ lane. Stay where you’re at,’” he warned. “I’m a competitive person and what I’m saying is I’m solidifying my lane and don’t f—king come over here ‘cause I will f—k you up.”

Miguel further explained, “I want everyone to express themselves in a unique way. I’m saying that in an aggressive way ‘cause that’s how I really feel, but what I mean by that is find your own thing to do and create your own lane.”

And even when it comes to his own musical lane, Miguel says he’s not too concerned with letting any possible guest stars climb in the passenger side of his sophomore ride.

“I’m a man who wants to stand on his own two feet. I don’t need a fu**ing co-sign. I don’t need that shit,” he said, while adding, “I can’t tell you who I may feature on this next album, but I guarantee you that it will be unexpected.”

Well, talk about not mincing words. We definitely won’t be surprised if Miguel one day becomes the latest star of an R&Beef, but we will say we’re excited to hear what his new album will sound like.

And if he does beef with another R&B star, it wouldn’t be the first time some crooners got into a spat. Check out some other famous R&Beefs below. – nicholas robinson
