Although it’s been years since she’s been on the music scene, Missy Elliott is said to be back with new music. Elliott, 41, is said to be resurfacing with two new singles, this according to her longtime collaborator, Timbaland. The super producer revealed the news via Twitter and noted that the tracks titled “9th Inning” and “Triple Threat” will be released this forthcoming Labor Day weekend.
Elliott is said to be releasing the singles in promotion of her Block Party album due out later this year. According to the pioneering female rapper however, her fans should prepare themselves for a more futuristic sound.
“Betta [sic] let em know don’t expect the a— shake music we always do. Time 2 go more futuristic :),” wrote Elliot to Timbaland on Twitter.
Before this week’s announcement, Elliott was in headlines after confirming that she had not been contacted about working on a posthumous Aaliyah album. The musician and close friend of the late singer was left out of the project and instead executive producer duties were given to rapper Drake. -danielle canada
