Music’s Hot Celebrity Couple: DJ M.O.S. and DJ Kiss
DJ Kiss, née JaKissa Taylor, wreaks of sexiness and intelligence. Don’t get it twisted and let her striking beauty fool you. Just because the 5’9″ Louisiana-bred bombshell has graced the pages of Essence and 944 magazines, her skills on the turntable are sonically sound. The New York resident is the go-to-girl DJ for major corporate parties and product launches. She’s spun records for Nike, Versace, Armani, Vitamin Water, and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. The latter says she’s one of his top three DJs to work with.
Now on to her better half, DJ M.O.S — an acronym for Masoud Ogbonna Semple — who has an energetic and eclectic style of his own. DJ M.O.S. doesn’t create sets in advance. He has a different alchemy; its equal parts mood and setting. When he’s live on the turntables, party goers are taken on a journey across cultures and genres. It’s a seamless fusion of rock, soul, disco, electro, house, R&B and hip-hop. The resident DJ for LIV at Fontainebleu Miami Beach and Mur Mur at Borgata in Atlantic City, DJ M.O.S. has landed clients like Russell Simmons, Esquire magazine, Bill Clinton, Kanye West, The Sundance and Tribeca Film Festivals, the U.S. Open, and New York hot spots; Avenue, Simyone Lounge, Mister H and Catch. DJ M.O.S. has also provided the music in TV ads for Bud Light, Doritos and Gillette.
While the couple has different styles, hers twee and his quirky, they’re a match made in disco heaven. Once when DJ Kiss was stuck on an airport runway for eight hours in Connecticut, attempting to return to New York to deejay Kim Kardashian’s Halloween Party, DJ M.O.S. had to step in. “[ I flew] in from Canada and literally landed in NYC an hour before the event. [I] had to rush over. I barely made it. Then after Kim’s event I had to head over to do another Halloween event, which I was definitely late for,” offers DJ Kiss’ mentor-turned-husband. And the fairy tale romance continues. –yvette caslin
