It looks R. Kelly is still stuck in the closet. No, we don’t mean it in that way. After a five year break, R. Kelly is reportedly planning to revive his famous “Trapped in the Closet” video series.

The singer announced his plans in a recent interview with TMZ, saying that he wants to release 32 (yes, you read right) chapters of his famous hip-hopera. However, Kelly, who’s currently in a large financial bind, says that he needs funding to produce more chapters.

“It cost a lot of money to do it, so I’m looking for investors,” Kelly said. “32 more chapters, you guys have to find out what the package is.”

Kelly originally began the series, which chronicles a one-night stand that turns into a soap opera of sex, scandal and lies, back in 2005. He released the first chapters as singles off of his TP.3 Reloaded album. All subsequent chapters were released exclusively on DVD.

According to Kelly, his desire to continue the soap opera stems from his secret desire to be a filmmaker.

“‘Trapped In The Closet,’ aside from me being silly and not having a job and having nothing else to do sitting around the studio, I’ve always wanted to be a movie director,” Kelly admits in the TMZ interview. “…That’s my movie director, seeping out through my music.”

We’ll, have to wait and see whether Kelly can get some financial backing to create such a vast amount of new chapters, but considering his current artistic and financial situations, we can understand why he wants to continue his “Trapped In The Closet” series. Below are five reasons why Kelly needs his new “Trapped In The Closet” videos to succeed. – nicholas robinson
