Rapper Beanie Sigel released from prison after 2 years

Philadelphia rapper and former Roc-A-Fella Records artist Beanie Sigel (born Dwight Grant) was released from Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia earlier this week.

The “Roc The Mic” rapper also known as “The Broad St. Bully” served two years for tax evasion and drug possession.


In July of 2012, Sigel was sentenced to two years in prison for failing to pay nearly $800,000 in taxes between 1999 and 2005. While awaiting sentencing, Sigel was arrested on drug possession charges when police found prescription drugs in his car during a routine traffic stop. Though originally unclear if possible, it was later decided that his tax evasion and drug possession charges would run concurrently.

In September of 2012, Grant reported to prison.
