The Revolt TV era is upon us. Last night in New York City, Sean “Diddy” Combs’ new Revolt TV hosted it’s 2014 Upfront Presentation at Marquee in Chelsea. With DJ Damage and Sibley of “Revolt Live” keeping the night moving, the new network made a grand and glamorous official debut. Revolt TV is a multi-genre, multi-platform network that seeks to offer new music, entertainment news, artist interviews, exclusive performances and all-original programming.

“We’ve come to be disruptive to this industry,” said Diddy. “We’ve come to make noise and we’ve come to be become the number one name in music. And this is one step closer to us achieving that goal. We’ve been in existence for five months and it’s beyond my wildest dreams.”

Diddy made sure to make note of the historical importance of a new network being launched by a black entrepreneur. Following in the footsteps of BET founder Bob Johnson and TV One’s Cathy Hughes, Combs acknowledged that this could inspire generations to come and other people of color around the globe.

“If you don’t know I’m black, I just want to remind you,” he joked. “This is a major accomplishment and I hope it inspires people all over the world.”

Another major hip-hop mogul, Russell Simmons, was on hand for the festivities. Simmons praised Combs’ ability to bring his unique perspective and approach to network television.

“I think that Sean has a finger on the pulse,” said Simmons. “We don’t have any networks run by people as close to the street as he is and who have as much real information and consciousness. I think he’s aware of the suffering in the streets and how to combat it and create programming that is inspiring and uplifting; and at the same time, he knows what he’s got to do to grab the audience.”

The network began broadcasting in October 2013 and is available on Time Warner Cable, Comcast and Century Link in over 40 of the top 50 U.S. markets including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, Boston, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C.
