Soul Artist Krystal Hardwick Debuts New Album

The debut album, The Tale of Two Fish, written and co-produced by soul artist and Houstonian, Krystal Hardwick, has found itself floating to many places and definitely making waves from H-town to Switzerland, Italy, the UK and, most recently, Brazil.

Hardwick’s stellar album, released through the groundbreaking, Houston-based indie record label Peace Uv Mine, offers the listener nine tracks, mimicking influences from bare-bones jazz,  R&B and a smidgen of hip-hop artistry. As the title suggests, two distinct attitudes of the “Pisces” sign merge together, moving from sensitive, defenseless melodies to moody, cavalier harmonies constructed by the naturalist’s supple, yet wispy vocals.

Hardwick’s traveling exploitations and personal interests in world music led her to create an album exhibiting musically intriguing poetry. “My first cassette tape was Crazy, Sexy, Cool by TLC, and my first CD was Tragic Kingdom by No Doubt. After living with my father at 17, I became much more interested in jazz-based and house music. He introduced me to Jill Scott, Herbie Hancock and Little Louie Vega,” said Hardwick.

During this time, Hardwick began traveling the world via musical connections through MySpace, leading her to perform in Switzerland, Italy, the UK and Brazil. “My main goals in life are to make music and travel as much as possible,” she explains.

In her debut album, Hardwick worked with international producers such as MAQman of Switzerland [CH] on her single “Waiting to Break Up,” Guynamite [UK] on the track “The (w)Ho,” along with Soulpersona [UK] on track number 8, “Mr. Mulatto,” to name a few. Recently returning from Brazil, she teamed up with dub producer DJ Buguinha and artist Edmundo Neguedmundo of São Paulo, Brazil, on a song that’s in the works, which will showcase how they are all musically connected through one rhythm.

“This is a record that collectively converges musical influences from around the world, making it go beyond just local,” said Savvi, Hardwick’s manager.

The Tale of Two Fish is available on iTunes, Amazon and all major online retailers.
