Suge Knight will be facing years in prison after killing a man during a hit-and-run accident in Compton, California. According to reports, Knight got into an altercation after showing up on the set of the N.W.A movie shoot. After attempting to leave, he slammed on the gas and hit a man who arrived with him. Knight fled the scene and the man eventually died. His lawyer said that he will turn himself in to authorities and face manslaughter and hit-and-run charges.

There was a time when Suge Knight was the most successful mogul in rap. From 1992 until 1997, Death Row Records sold over 30 million records and appeared to be an unstoppable force in music.

His rise didn’t occur by accident. Knight started as a college-educated entrepreneur who had the connections and talent to operate a multimillion-dollar record label.

However, Knight’s downfall occurred when he decided to focus more on ruthlessness than being a great businessman. The beating of a man that some believed led to the murder of Tupac Shakur; violating his parole by punching a man in 2003; being shot on two different occasions; and recently being charged with robbery for snatching a woman’s camera. Those incidents proved that Knight cared more about being feared than creating an empire in music.

Knight’s rival in the ’90s, Diddy, has grown tremendously in business over the past 20 years and continues to expand his reach in other areas.

Knight should be as relevant as Diddy when it comes to business. But, instead, he’s currently facing a lengthy jail sentence that will continue to give him the street credibility that he always desired.
