Wyclef’s Yele Haiti Foundation, a foundation to raise relief money for his native country, went out of business last month. According to the New York Times, auditors zeroed in on $3 million of the organization’s expenses from 2005 to 2009, concluding that $256,580 was used for illegal benefits and improper transactions including private air transportation and chauffeur services. Perhaps, this explains why Wyclef pulled a Jason Russell (the co-founder of Invisible Children, who had a naked meltdown following the media’s criticism of his efforts at altruism).
