‘YOLO’ makes it to the Oxford English Dictionary

About a year and a half ago, Drake made it known that he thought he should he should get paid for corporate usage of the term “YOLO”. Looks like he may really be looking for a pay day with the latest news concerning the phrase he coined on 2011’s “The Motto.”

The popular term was recently added to the online Oxford Dictionary with the following definition: You only live once (expressing the view that one should make the most of the present moment without worrying about the future, and often used as a rationale for impulsive or reckless behavior).

The brass at Oxford have really been on a roll (or perhaps watching Twitter and other social media too closely) as other additions to the dictionary include “amazeballs,” “sideboob,” “ICYMI” (In case you missed it), “SMH” (Shaking my head), and even “FML” (F— my life).

We’re sure that English professors around the world more than likely have not recovered from last year’s inductees that included “digital detox,” “badassery,” “selfie,” and “twerking.”

One thing is for sure, social media is here to stay so we can probably look forward to more seemingly unlikely additions from Oxford because they are surely taking note.
