T.I. Sponsors Bus Trip for Families of 14 Inmates to Visit Prison

Despite his numerous legal dramas and current incarceration, T.I. has made a name for himself with his humanitarian efforts and this past weekend the Atlanta emcee added to his growing list of good deeds when he sponsored a bus trip for 46 family members of 14 fellow inmates to visit their incarcerated loved ones in prison.


According to MTV News, the bus trip, which was called “To See a Loved One,” began on May 28 when family and friends of the inmates boarded a chartered bus in Atlanta and Alabama for a trip to the Forrest City Correctional Facility in Forrest City, Ark., on Sunday and Monday.


In a statement obtained by MTV News, the “King of the South” explained that he wanted less fortunate inmates to able to see their loved ones.

“I’ve been blessed to receive tons and tons of mail from my fans, family and friends, as well as get visits on a regular basis. Unfortunately, some guys aren’t as fortunate,” T.I. said. “There are a lot of good dudes in here that haven’t been able to see there loved ones in years. Their families can’t afford the trip so I wanted to help out.”


T.I. has been in the Forrest City federal facility since November 2010, serving an 11-month sentence after violating his probation when he and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Cottle were arrested in September 2010 for drug possession.
