Apple recently bought Dr. Dre’s Beats by Dre for a staggering $3.2 billion. But while Dr. Dre stands to have a powerful position at Apple, a former black employee at Apple tells a different story and claims the company practices racial discrimination.

According to RadarOnline, Andrew Dupree, 31, says the company created a culture where blacks remained in the same positions while their white counterparts were promoted. Dupree, a four year employee at Apple, claims that he informed Apple executives and CEO Tim Cook about the racist practices and was ignored.

Dupree started at an Apple retail store in Orlando and eventually transferred to a store in Sydney, Australia to help increase sales. He said that sales increased by 14 percent during his time in Sydney.

However, when he returned to the Orlando store, Dupree says the company would not promote him to a management position. He said white employees who did less work were given promotions ahead of him.

Dupree also said that supervisors told him, “black employs don’t reach management in this market.” He sent an email to Apple CEO Tim Cook about the discrimination and nothing was resolved.

Dupree has contacted the EEOC and filed a lawsuit against the company.
