Ferguson man witnessed and live tweeted as Michael Brown was killed by police

Police Shooting Missouri

A Ferguson, Missouri man witnessed the murder of Michael Brown and was likely the first person to break the story by using Twitter. The man’s username on Twitter is TheePharoah. He’s listed as a rapper/producer and lives in the neighborhood where Brown was killed.

At 1:03 p.m. on August 9, @TheePharoah tweeted in all caps, “I just saw someone die omfg.” He then tweeted to a follower, “The police just shot someone dead in front of my crib yo.” The next tweet was a picture of Brown lying dead in the street.

His next tweets explained how Brown was shot. “Dude was running and the cops just shot him. I saw him die bruh,” he tweeted.

He also tweeted about the number of times Brown was shot to another follower, “Yeah man, [Brown was shot] seven times I think. The first two were [in the front]. The next five weren’t. He turned around.”

Two hours after his initial tweet, Brown was still lying on the ground in a pool of his own blood. “Homie still on the ground tho,” he tweeted.

His last tweet mentions that Brown may have stole some Cigarillos: “Apparently, he stole some rellos [sic].”

TheePharoah has not been interviewed by the media and recently turned down an offer to speak with BET’s KeKe Palmer. On Twitter, he revealed that he would not do any interviews until he obtains a lawyer.
