The entire nation was shocked when unarmed 12-year-old Tamir Rice was gunned down last year for playing with a toy gun at a park by Cleveland Police Officer Timothy Loehman. The shooting took place on Nov. 22, 2014, now almost six months later the investigation is still ongoing.

Compounding the tragic circumstances of his death is that Tamir has yet to be buried by his family. The Rice family’s attorney, Walter Madison, said the family is waiting for the investigation to be completed rather than be subjected to the very possible exhumation of his body as part of the Cleveland Police Department’s investigation. The cost of the storage of his body is $75 per day and already the bill stands at more than $18,000, a cost the family will ultimately have to pay. It boggles the mind that the investigation is taking so long since the death of the young child took only a few seconds and was captured on video. So far there has been no explanation by police regarding what is causing the delay in the investigation.
