Legendary send-off for gospel great Andraé Crouch

“The father of modern gospel music’s” life was celebrated over a two day period at the West Angeles Church of God in Christ in Los Angeles where thousands from all over the world paid their final respects to legendary gospel artist Andraé Crouch.

BET live streamed both celebration of life services along with video tributes from Bishop T.D. Jakes, Kenneth Copeland and Michael W. Smith. The celebrations included appearances and performances by Stevie Wonder, Tyler Perry, Yolanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Donnie McClurkin, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Edwin Hawkins, Fred Hammond, Erica Campbell, Dr. Bobby Jones, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Kurt Carr, Donald Lawrence, Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Hezekiah Walker, Kirk Franklin, Kim Burrell, Byron Cage,  Smokey Norful, Richard Smallwood, Israel Houghton, Ledisi, David and Nicole Binion, Tata Vega, Kristle Murden, Tommy Sims, Jonathan Butler and many more. Pastor Marvin Winans gave the eulogy, as well as performed at the memorial service which was officiated by Bishop Kenneth Ulmer.  A touching message from President Barack Obama was also included in the 6-page color program.


Crouch’s accolades include seven Grammy Awards, six GMA Dove Awards, induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and an Academy Award nomination for The Color Purple.  He was also well-respected for his collaborations with secular recording artists, including Madonna, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Ringo Star and Chaka Khan.
