“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss made her Broadway debut last week as part of the production team of Keenan Scott II’s Thoughts of a Colored Man. Initially scheduled to debut on Oct. 31, the play was bumped up two weeks by the production team led by Brian Moreland, Ron Simons, Diana DiMenna, Samira Wiley, Sheryl Lee Ralph, The Shubert Organization and The Nederlander Organization.

Thoughts of a Colored Man is a series of vignettes between Black men in an urban, concrete landscape that delves into the Black man’s life in 21st century America. Topics range from neighborhood gentrification, loss of culture, materialism and the constant fear of dying by gun violence.

Thoughts of a Colored Man’s Broadway run stars “Pose‘s” Dyllón Burnside as well as Bryan Terrell Clark, Forrest McClendon, Tristan “Mack” Wilds and Keith David. Burruss’ co-star on “The Chi,” Luke James, also acts in the play as well as “BMF” star Da’Vinchi.

Burruss shared a few flicks from last week’s opening night that included such attendees as CNN’s Don Lemon, Wyclef Jean of The Fugees and Nicole Ari Parker. Her family also showed out in droves and her husband Todd Tucker and daughter Riley were by her side.

“My tribe came through deep last night! Thanks for lifting me up. Your presence meant everything to me. 🥰 Opening night of #ThoughtsOfAColoredMan was EVERYTHING!!!! I’m so grateful to be a producer on this amazing show, with an amazing cast, & team! Thank you to all of the people who came out to support & show love! It means more than you know. ❤️,” the Xscape singer shared on Instagram.

Thoughts of a Colored Man runs on Broadway until Oct. 30 and tickets can be purchased at checkout.broadway.com. Tucker also praised his wife’s latest accomplishment and congratulated her on IG as well.

“ @kandi I’m so proud of you! I remember when you talked about wanting to perform on Broadway. You’ve accomplished that and now you’re a producer of the first all male black cast and all black production. This is Epic!!! @coloredmanplay is an amazing play! Keep setting goals and accomplishing them! You inspire so many!!!” Tucker wrote.
