Denver Broncos wide receiver Nathan Palmer, who performs under the moniker “NaPalm,” has released his highly anticipated mixtape, Life as a Bachelor. The 25-year-old is not only a talented athlete, but is also musically inclined. After exploring his musical talents professionally at the age of 8, he knew he wanted a successful musical career. NaPalm performed at Chicago’s Riff Music Lounge and brought the house down with a few of his smash hits. Check out the interview.

What’s the inspiration behind this new mixtape, Life as a Bachelor?

My first EP I put out was mostly about me being heartbroken and going through a bad relationship. It was a two-year relationship; Life as a Bachelor was my way of getting back to having fun and just living life like I used to. I was in a dark place and I didn’t want to be there anymore.

How do you want your future fans to interpret your music?

I want people to take what I say for face value. If I’m singing about something that is emotional; that means I’m going through some things. If I’m singing about turning up in the club that means I’m trying to have fun. I’m pretty blunt and straightforward in my music.

Which do you prefer to be known as, Nathan Palmer the athlete or NaPalm the artist?

There’s nothing I prefer because I would be devastated if either were taken away from me. I love being an athlete and I love music. I think they both keep me balanced. It keeps me competitive. The challenge is breaking into this industry. Everyone wants that No. 1 spot, so do I.

What’s one thing people don’t know about you?

I have a Southern heart. That’s probably why it keeps getting broken, but I’m really [at]tuned with my feelings.

Who do you aspire to work with?

Usher. I really love everything that Usher’s done. He’s phenomenal as an artist; I really respect what he’s done; especially with Justin Bieber’s career. I would also love to work with Pharrell. He’s a dope producer and he amazes me.
