Houston media guru Kelly Hodges hosted the Seersuckers and Sundress day party for sarcoidosis to raise awareness for the devastating disease. The event was held at the Mosaic lounge and Bar located in Houston’s swanky midtown district. Sarcodosis  is a systemic inflammatory disease that can affect every organ in your body leading to complete organ failure. The cause of sarcoidosis is unknown and the disease can take years to detect.

“In 2002 my life and my family’s life changed forever. My youngest sister, Ericka, lost her battle with sarcoidosis at the age of 22. To watch sarcoidosis take her down was very hard.  I began volunteering with Janine Sarcoidosis Outreach Foundation to educate others about the disease because it is very rare and often misdiagnosed. I want to bring awareness to all communities, especially the African American community, about this debilitating disease called sarcoidosis” said Hodges when asked about why she dedicated her birthday party and gifts to the Sarcoidosis Foundation.

Sponsors of the event included RWB gluten free vodka, LAMIK Beauty, Melodrama Boutique and Gordon Marc Cigars.
