LAS VEGAS — After 10 years as the immensely popular Ford Hoodie Awards, multifaceted TV and radio superstar Steve Harvey retired two things that weekend in August of 2012: His extraordinarily successful standup career; and most importantly, the title of the “Hoodie Awards.”IMG_9124

Entering the 11th season, Harvey and his crew decided to take this blockbuster urban phenomenon, which has attracted upwards of 10,000 people annually to the heart of Sin City, to the next level by renaming the awards weekend extravaganza the “Ford Neighborhood Awards.” IMG_9040

The focus and philosophy remains precisely the same, as well as the itinerary: celebrities in droves come to the Neighborhood Awards to pay homage to the mostly anonymous heroes, sheroes, community activists and entrepreneurs who uplift urban America in their own small ways. Of course, Harvey is still going to have popping parties, concerts, comedy shows, uplifting forums, a golf tournament and the exhilarating beach concert-party at the Beach at Mandalay Bay to close out the weekend.
