The best time of day is when the clock strikes 5 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. You run out of your employers’ office so fast, just to hit up a happy hour and go home to pregame for the weekend festivities. Now, happy hours and weekend entertainment are a nice finale after a grueling work week, but what about during the week?

Not everyone has a typical 9 to 5. For people who don’t and for the ones that do but don’t mind hanging out on a work night, check out this list of possible weekday activities in the DMV.

  1. Sundays- Sip, Sip, Buzz

Since most people view Sunday as the first day of the week, we’ll start there- with a winery. The DMV has access to so many nearby wineries, which are usually filled on Saturdays because most people don’t think to go on a Sunday. Most wineries have a great selection of wine, a nice place to sip it, a great view and the option to purchase an inexpensive yet exclusive bottle. The best advantage to a winery on a Sunday is the curfew. Most of them close around 6 or 7 in the evening, which gives you ample time to get a nice afternoon buzz with a few hours to kill before you have to prepare for the next day. Drink responsibly.

  1. Mondays- Floetry

Check out Busboys and Poets. It’s a cozy establishment that gives an artistic mom-and-pop feel with a dope twist. That twist being decadent edibles, a multicultural library to purchase thought-provoking literature and a safe community to express your artistic side. The best treasure about their Shirlington, Virginia location is that Monday us open mic night. What better way to start your week, than to snap your fingers to some melodies and spoken word?

  1. Tuesdays- Sports

Many ball games take place on weeknights. Although great fun, sports can be a little tricky during the week. Some sports events, like baseball, can start around 2 p.m. and others, such as basketball, can start at 7 p.m. Getting up the next morning with an 8 a.m. start time can be a hassle if a game doesn’t end until 10 p.m. the night before. For the flexible workers and non-early risers, any sports game would be a great fit.

  1. Wednesdays- Lights, Camera, Action

Watching a newly released film is always fun, especially mid-week. Most don’t mind the long ticket lines on a Friday or Saturday evening but if you do, Wednesdays are for you. Theatres are usually empty (no need for rushing to find great seats), refreshment lines are non-existent (not to mention restroom lines) and there aren’t any oisy disturbances during the movie (which will help you focus on Idris’ dreamy eyes).

  1. Thursdays- Basquiat Vibes

Get in touch with your cultivated side. Learn more about the arts in so many ways. The DMV offers a plethora of exciting indoor and outdoor experiences year round, such as museums and sculpture gardens. There is no way your creative intellect could suffer. The best part is that most of them are free. All you have to do is show up and bring an open mind, ready to soak up some historical awesomeness.

So, kick up your feet and relax this weekend. The weekdays are taking over.
