Shealicious, conditioning in a cup

No, that is not yogurt you see in the picture above. What you see are Shealicious’s new hair conditioning cocktails by ORS. This first-of-its-kind cocktailing system harnesses the full power of 100% therapeutic oils. Freshly mix the oils at the time of use to create a shea butter enriched conditioner for softer, shinier, healthier hair and scalp.


Recently, rolling out had the opportunity to attend an exclusive launch of Shealicious on the Rooftop of Zed 415 in Chicago to learn more about this new do-it-yourself conditioning cocktail made easy.

We spoke with ORS brand strategist Johnathan Carthon and asked why it is so important that this product uses natural ingredients. “I have been in the industry for quite some time and what we have seen over the past few years is that their has been a progression in the desire and passion for natural ingredients. We find that natural ingredients are just better, better for their body, better for their skin, better for their hair. They absorb better and people know what it is. You can look at a tree, pick from it and say this is the oil that it produces,” he said.

When discussing consumers who do not necessarily focus on natural hair, he adds, “We talk beyond natural hair, we talk to the problem. We could have easily made this brand about naturally curly hair, but there are people who have color damage. We tell the story about finding a great solution for color damaged hair, Shealicious unlocks the power. It’s more about identifying the consumer issues and problem and making sure that as we introduce the brand and we don’t limit it through visuals. It’s a solution oriented product line. We don’t limit it by saying its only for a certain demographic.”

Jennifer Jackson, the senior manager for education at ORS products, shared her thoughts on ORS’s mission with Shealicious.

“The reach for this product is vast. This product is for anyone who is needing an intense conditioning treatment for their hair. In the unique revolutionary packaging, you have your oil separate from the conditioning, and mixing it fresh makes it a more potent conditioning treatment, versus purchasing something that has been mixed for you already. We are targeting people who have issues with lack of moisture in their hair and may have dry and itchy scalps,” she said.

When asked for a few good tips for healthy hair, she said, “I would say keep a good shampoo and conditioning regiment. Keep the dead ends off the hair and have fun with your hair. Don’t put yourself in a box when it comes to hair. More textured and natural looks are being accepted and I am excited about that.”
