Celebs turned out in droves this weekend to support Steve and Marjorie Harvey at their Screen Gems Presents The Steve and Marjorie Harvey Foundation Gala. Co-hosted by CNN’s Soledad O’Brien at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street, this year’s gala raised more than $700,000 to support The Steve Harvey Mentoring Weekend for Young Men and the Girls Who Rule the World. In its third year, the gala was said to be a “rousing night full of laughs and inspiration” and included a rare comedic set from Bill Cosby and a performance from Rachelle Ferrell.
“We continue to be inspired by the generosity shown by all the friends and supporters who came out for this amazing night. Anyone has the power to make a difference, and we are so grateful for this support, to continue empowering the futures of young men and women around the world,” said Steve and Marjorie Harvey in a statement.
Over 400 friends, family members and supporters were on hand for Steve and Marjorie Harvey including Gayle King, Terrence J, actor Romany Malco, actress-model Selita Ebanks and Hollywood producer Will Packer. Honorees included Richard and Kyle Petty, BET’s Debra Lee, Spike and Tonya Lewis Lee as well as Capital Prep Magnet School founder Dr. Steve Perry.
