Black Republican Allen West Threatens to Leave Black Caucus: Find Out Why

Congressman Allen West, R-Fla., the lone Republican member of the Congressional Black Caucus, said he is considering leaving the organization after taking offense with a black Democrats comment about the Tea Party that West supports.

West, who was hesitant to join the CBC after his election, said he is on his way out after learning of inflammatory comments attributed Rep. Andre Carson that said tea party-affiliated members of Congress view African Americans as “second class citizens” and would prefer to see members of the race “hanging from a tree.”

“When you start using words such as lynching … that’s a reprehensible word and I think we should move away from that language,” West told “Fox & Friends.”

“One of the things I’m starting to think about is reconsidering my membership in the Congressional Black Caucus,” he continued, “because I don’t think they’re moving in the right manner toward solving the problems in not just the black community, but all of America.”

West, as many recalled, uttered the laughable statement that he is the “modern day Harriet Tubman” rescuing blacks and others from the Democratic plantation which is overseen by “perceived leaders in the black community” such as Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. He also said that the Democratic Party has traditionally failed to solve the plethora of problems plaguing the black community, while taking the African American vote for granted election after election. –terry shropshire
