Lashawna Threatt Dead, Ciara Williams Critically Injured After Fall From Atlanta W Hotel Window

Lashawna Threatt,  a mother and well-known model, and her friend, dancer Ciara Williams, met an unexpected fate early Saturday morning after celebrating Threatt’s 30th birthday.  While the two young women were “play wrestling” on the 10th floor of the W Hotel in Midtown Atlanta, a window they made contact with shattered and they both fell through.   Threatt fell to her death, and Williams is hospitalized in critical condition.

Ajc.com reports that when the hotel window shattered at approximately 3:15 a.m., both women fell onto a glass sunroof on another level, and Threatt remained there, while Williams rolled off and fell an additional 20 feet.

“It appears that there was no malicious act, no foul play. They were just wrestling with each other and hit the window. The window broke, and they fell out,”  Atlanta Police Lt. Paul Guerrucci told the AJC.

Hotel manager Michael O’Donohue issued the following statement:

“The incident at the W Atlanta early Saturday is very tragic, and our thoughts and prayers are with the woman who was injured and the family and friends of the woman who died in the fall,” O’Donohue said. “There is a police investigation under way, and all information must come from the authorities.”

The two women had returned earlier from celebrating Lashawna Threatt’s birthday at a restaurant in the city’s Atlantic Station and had attended a white [clothing] party at the hotel.

A tragic end to what was supposed to be a celebration.  A Facebook page has been set up in remembrance of Threatt.

This is such a sad, tragic story. I always tell kids to stop horseplaying because it could lead to danger. I guess I’m going to have to start telling adults, too. You just never know. My condolences to their families and friends. So young and full of life.

hugging is not horseplaying, you the media and the staff at the w was not in that room, so please stop speaking about family as if they were children who didnt know how to act. thank you

I find it hard to believe that two grown women would be “play
wrestling”. Add to that they are in their nice clothes and both
attractive and both black. We as a people do not like to wrestle or do
any thing that might mess up our clothes or hair when we are partying
with others. This was her birthday, she would not have been wrestling
with anyone, but she might have been truly fighting with someone.
It takes a lot of force to go through a hotel window especially one of the W.

I smell cover up. Don’t know why, don’t know who, but cover up it is. I
also find it hard to believe that the police are seemingly going along
with it. When I first heard it on the news, my first thoughts were
    “that’s not what really happen”.

I said the same thing I live in Atlanta and I’ve been to the W this was more than what they are saying. They owe it to her friends and family to tell the truth. I believe this was a real fight and they don’t want to tell.

I’d like to have some of what you’re smoking… cover up? WTF do you know, were you there? Also, the “We as a people do not like to wrestle…” is pretty ignorant.
