What part of New York do you live in? And how long have you lived there?

Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. I have lived in New York City my entire life, not counting periods outside of the country when I played international basketball. New York City was still my home even when I was away.

Why do you live in New York?

Because it is the greatest city in the world. Its rich cultural diversity makes it the capital of the world in arts, music, theater, and true ethnic flavor.

Give our readers three tips about New York City that are helpful.

1. There’s lots to do in New York City for low cost or no cost. For example, a ferry ride with the family on a warm day doesn’t cost a dime, and gives you and the kids great views of the skyline, the Statue of Liberty and more. Many museums and attractions sponsor a free day or night every month. And in the summer there are free concerts every day somewhere in the city. 2. Get involved. Attend community meetings. Get to know your elected officials. Be a part of your block or tenant association. There’s a wealth of information to be had, and when you need help with something you’ll know right where to go. 3. Celebrate diversity. Make friends with persons of other countries, other ethnicities, other cultures. It’s the most exciting part of being a New Yorker.

What is one of your favorite things about New York?

The food. So many choices from so many countries. It will take a lifetime to eat at so many different locations, and new ones are being added all the time. Bring it on!

Who is your favorite New Yorker?

A beautiful, vivacious, intelligent, feisty, caring, loving woman by the name of Michelle Cornegy, who I am fortunate and blessed to call my wife. Tied with my wife are wonderful children. Every day when I come home I am treated to an experience with all my favorite New Yorkers!
