President Obama’s Sister Says He Was Born in Hawaii, Now Shut Up About It

Conservative conspiracy kooks, including a certain real estate celebrity with a hideous toupee, have feasted on wild tales of where President Obama was born and how his birth certificate was allegedly manufactured.

Enough, says Obama’s half sister Maya Soetoro-Ng. And perhaps she was even speaking to Donald Trump. “He was born in Hawaii,” she said to Piers Morgan on his CNN show. “There is a tremendous amount of proof that has already been presented.”

Soetoro-Ng, who is promoting her new children’s book, Ladder to the Moon, pointed out that officials have verified his birth records. Soetoro-Ng points to the former director of Hawaii’s Department of Health, Dr. Chivome Fukino, who once again said recently that the whole conspiracy theory around Obama’s birth has become “ludicrous at this point.”

Soetoro-Ng, who shares a mother with the commander in chief, says that the evidence is all there and people need to focus on more important issues.

“[His birth certificate] is real, and no amount of saying it is not, is going to change that,” Fukino told NBC in a rare interview. “They’re going to question the ink on which it was written or say it was fabricated,” said Fukino. “The whole thing is silly.”

Unfortunately, Soetoro-Ng impassioned defense of her half-brother may only serve to fuel the cyberspace feeding frenzy. If Obama’s American birth is true, his fanatical enemies will bark, then it would not need to be defended so vigorously and by so many people.

Soetoro-Ng seems resigned to the fact that perhaps nothing will slow the surge of inane and loony theories. She should take solace, however. After many decades, conspiracy theories continue to swirl around such events as Pearl Harbor and the assassinations of John and Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King.

“I think it is time for people to put that to bed,” she told Morgan. “Put it to rest completely, and focus on what they can do to help this country.” –terry shropshire
