Wells Fargo to Donate $234,000 to Atlanta-Area Charities

On Wednesday, Nov. 2, 234 nonprofit organizations in the Atlanta area were designated to receive $1,000 grants from Wells Fargo. The first 64 groups were honored on Nov. 2 at a breakfast at Trees Atlanta, which is also a beneficiary. The donations to the groups are being distributed at five community breakfast events across Atlanta. Many of the organizations are based in or serve the African American community.
“Just the names of many groups say so much,” said Mike Donnelly, Wells Fargo’s Atlanta regional president. “From Unconditional Love for Children to Friends of Refugees to Mentor Me to Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper to all the others, we are proud to reach so many groups and people.”

This act of benevolence is a part of the annual initiative titled, Days of Giving, which Wells Fargo launched in 2009.
“Wells Fargo has a long proud history of community involvement and local decision making,” said Leonard Walker, business banking division manager for Atlanta. “Days of Giving is the ideal representation of that and we look forward to celebrating our communities in this way for years to come.”
As part of their corporate giving goals and objectives, Wells Fargo is actively involved in local communities and their team members will lead the effort to help these communities succeed. Team members from almost 200 bank branches in Atlanta, along with those in other business product and service areas, selected and recognized groups that were delivering important services in their local areas.
The company also announced that its Atlanta team members had pledged or given $937,000 through its annual United Way and Community Support campaign — 10 percent more than lin 2010. Wells Fargo is also making a $600,000 corporate contribution to the United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta. –yvette caslin
