Many people can remember lunchroom talk with fellow students and maybe a teacher, from time to time, while enjoying lunch. But at Camden County High School in North Carolina, one teacher’s comment upset quite a few students and parents.

Math teacher Cynthia Ramsey told students that if she had 10 days to live, one of the items on her “bucket list” was to kill all black people. There were many students present when Ramsey made this highly racist comment. School officials investigated and confirmed the details of what the students heard and subsequently Ramsey was suspended without pay. However, the racist teacher was back at her job within a week’s time. According to officials, the district is still thoroughly investigating the incident, “but all findings will be confidential until the case is resolved because it’s considered a personnel matter.”

Meanwhile, parents are outraged that Ramsey is still allowed to teach students.  One parent, Kimberly Ashcraft was very vocal about her displeasure at the school district’s decision. Ashcraft is quoted as saying that “it wasn’t only a threat to the black children at the school, but the black people in the community.”
