Baltimore Raven Brendon Ayanbadejo: Then and now

Ten-year NFL veteran Brendon Ayanbadejo is promoting gay rights during Super Bowl XLVII. He contacted a marriage equality advocate and Russell Simmons’s political director asking them both about how he could help.

Ayanbadejo played college football at UCLA and was signed to the Atlanta Falcons in 1999 as an undrafted freeagent. This three-time Pro Bowler is using his Super Bowl platform to give a voice to those who feel unheard. Ayanbadejo has been advocating the legalization of same-sex marriage since 2009. For a professional athlete to stand by his beliefs and to use this time to share them with the world is monumental. We wonder if he will wear NOH8 socks during the Super Bowl game against the San Francisco 49ers. Let’s watch his socks as he takes a stand against injustice.
