An innocent tweet has launched an investigation into Jay-Z’s locker-room visit with the Kentucky Wildcats.

Jay-Z is a co-owner of the the Nets, and it is against NBA policy for team personnel to have contact with players who are not eligible for the draft. The Nets will participate in the NBA Draft lottery (the lottery decides the pecking order for top picks) because they were eliminated from the playoffs.

After the Nets loss at New York, Jay-Z visited the Kentucky Wildcats to congratulate that team on their Final Four victory over North Carolina. The game took place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Kentucky guard Darius Miller tweeted a picture of the rapper–wearing a hoodie and shades–with the team after the victory.

“It was crazy, I kinda had to do a double-take,” Miller told reporters immediately after the visit. “ I didn’t expect that at all, so, I got a picture with him.”

And the NBA took notice; spokesman Tim Frank confirmed that the league is investigating, according to CBSSports.com.

Team members have reported that Jay-Z was not recruiting, he was just dropping by to congratulate the team.

Kentucky’s Terrence Jones, a leading prospect in the NBA draft, defended the rapper’s visit, reporting that the players yelled Jay-Z’s name, and he shook hands with a few of them, in other words, there was no shadiness going on, just a victory celebration.
