After eight long months, Kobe Bryant fans can rejoice that he will be back in action.

Bryant announced on social media that he will be back on the court to play with his team for Sunday’s game against the Toronto Raptors.

The”‘Black Mamba” released a dramatic two-minute clip on his Facebook page titled Season of Legend. In this clip, Bryant’s jersey is hanging while rain, wind and snow storms are constantly battering the jersey with music that you typically hear playing in the background of an action movie. Ultimately a severe lightning storm comes and tears the jersey, which serves as a metaphor of his ripped Achilles injury. More storms come and the jersey is restored, representing Kobe’s return.

Shortly after Bryant’s injury, there were rumors of his retirement that peaked when he took to Facebook to update fans about a coming “major” announcement; however, the announcement was in regards to his health weekend initiative in Dubai and he quickly squashed those retirement rumors via Twitter.

It was sealed and confirmed that Kobe would return to the game when he signed a two-year contract extension with the Los Angeles Lakers worth $48.5 million in November shortly after his first practice with the team.

On April 12, 2013 with three minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Bryant made a common move, pushing off his left foot as he attempted to drive around the Golden State Warriors’ Harrison Barnes. He was fouled, felt a pop and looked around as though someone had kicked him.The superstar baller immediately fell to the ground, grimacing and holding the back of his ankle indicating that it was a pretty serious injury.

At 35 years old, Bryant, who has played 1,239 regular season games and 220 playoff games, will now attempt to leave a lasting impression for the ages with his comeback after the injury.
