Minnesota Timberwolves Become Whitest Team in the NBA
The Minnesota Timberwolves are doing something that hasn’t been done in over a decade. They are fielding an NBA team that is mostly white. Out of the 15-man roster, only five of the team’s players are black. Brandon Roy is the only black starter on the Timberwolves.
The team’s racial disparity has even become a political issue for some.
Tyrone Terrell, chairman of St. Paul’s African American said, “How did we get a roster that resembles the 1955 Lakers?”
Overall, the NBA is 80 percent black and will remain a majority black league for a long time.
