NBC revives ‘Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous’

Nickelodeon TeenNick HALO Awards - Red Carpet

NBC reboots “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous,” with the jack-of-all trades, Nick Cannon as their host. According to Entertainment Weekly, the network plans to revive the 1980-90’s syndicated series formerly presented by Robin Leach by focusing on Cannon’s point of view while profiling new tech billionaires versus old-money moguls, their philanthropic efforts and hobbies.

Cannon’s latest project further extends his partnership with NBC, as the 34-year-old currently hosts “America’s Got Talent.” In addition to his hosting gigs, you can catch Cannon on BET’s “Real Husbands of Hollywood” and “Wild N’ Out” on MTV2.

In 2013, a similar revamp of the hit show was presented to the now-defunct Style network with Cannon as host, but fell through the cracks when the channel was rebranded as Esquire Network.

Someone must have really invested a lot of money into this pilot and want to get it off the ground. But with celebrities already giving up so much of their lives via social media outlets such as Instagram and Facebook, is there really an audience for such a reboot?
