It came as a shock to “Real Housewives of Atlanta” fans this season to see former enemies Phaedra Parks and NeNe Leakes bonding with each other in the wake of Parks’ split from Apollo Nida. And even Kandi Burruss recently questioned Parks on why she’s gotten so friendly with Leakes. Now, Leakes is finally opening up on the matter and explaining that she doesn’t understand why people are questioning her kindness to another woman.

In recent episodes of “RHOA,” Parks has revealed that Leakes has called her every day to console her over her crumbling marriage with Nida and his eight-year prison sentence. And although many have assumed that the two ladies are best friends now, Leakes clarifies in her latest “RHOA” blog post that she and Parks aren’t that close.

Let’s be clear about a few things: Phaedra and I are not close! We’re not BFFs! One of the great things about NeNe Leakes is that I have a heart,” wrote Leakes.

The “RHOA” vet explains that she decided to be so kind and helpful to Parks because she saw her struggling in the same way she did when she divorced Gregg Leakes years ago.

“Phaedra is a woman, and woman to woman I felt her pain! Hell, I had been there before! It doesn’t matter what it looks like on the street, you never know what a woman is going through behind closed doors, and I could clearly see Phaedra was going through something and she was in pain. She’s a mom with two young boys, and all I saw was myself, so I had to reach out. I wanted to give her advice on how to get through during tough times like these,” Leakes wrote.

“Sometimes you just need somebody to talk to. Somebody to cry to. It’s always during times like these when you get to see the true colors of those that call themselves your friend!” she added.

And that’s not all Leakes had to say. Find out what she said about “Team Petty” bashing Parks for allegedly cheating on Nida.
