Hampton University’s Band Director dishes on homecoming 2013

During Hampton University’s 2013 homecoming celebration lead band director Rasan Holmes detailed to rollingout the pressures he and the “Marching Force” band were facing for their game time performance.

“It’s very different preparing for homecoming,” said Holmes. “You have the added pressure of the alumni coming back and the visiting band that you’re getting up for. Knowing you’re going to have a even larger crowd, you really want to do a show that’s going to appeal to everyone.”

This year’s halftime show carried a 90s theme and according to Mr. Holmes was a high-energy “antidotal” show to give Hampton alum a true sense of nostalgia.

“[The show will have] a lot of energy, a lot of hype-ness, very exciting song selection and should be very antidotal to the alumni present,” said Holmes.

Hampton University’s 2013 homecoming celebration included a plethora of parties, the annual parade and time spent by current students and alumni in the student center.
