A
young black couple, Byron (Academy Award nominee Terrence Howard) and
Nina (Nicole Ari Parker) has an ill-timed breakdown while traveling
from Chicago to L.A. The backwater town the couple gets stranded in is
filled with rednecks that don’t take too kindly to uppity Negroes. The
film then becomes part thriller, part racial/sociological commentary as
Byron tries to extricate his wife and himself from a steadily worsening
situation. –g. mcclaren forde
