Artists from around the world converged at Underground Atlanta for the
2007 Heritage Arts Festival. This year’s celebration featured musical
guests Anthony David, AZ-1, Beverly Watkins and Wayne McDowell. There
was also a “From Civil War to Civil Rights” history tour and an outdoor
market where patrons were able to get a glimpse of exotic jewelry,
clothing, food and artifacts from local and international vendors. The
Okoye Art Gallery, which showcased world renowned artists, drew
thousands of spectators over the nine-day festival.

“We love
coming to this festival because we get to have camaraderie with the
other artists who come from all over the world,” artist Scare Crow
said. “But we also have an opportunity to meet the public that buys
from our Web site. This is a good chance to educate as well as become
educated about our black culture. We try to promote love, harmony and
unity through our work. This festival allows different voices to be
heard in the art world.” -amir shaw terry shropshire
