London: Man of His Word

London is far from being your typical R&B singer. This Universal/Motown standout is backed by Corporate Thugz Entertainment and his manager is Young Jeezy’s business partner, Kinky B. This Oakland, Calif., native started his career as a rapper – a story you don’t hear when it comes to singing pretty boys.

“That’s the thing lacking in the music today, people not being a little more creative,” London complains. “The difference with my stuff is I’m making records that are going to be here 20-30 years from now instead of making a song that’s here today, gone tomorrow.”

It’s a bold claim for a young up-and-coming artist, but then again it’s London’s singing talents that recently landed him on the BET College Tour. London attributes his buzz to the label and industry support he’s received to just be himself.

“A lot of the stuff that they had me doing before wasn’t so much of me,” he admits. “Now they’re really letting me do what’s me and just let me be me instead of trying to create a carbon copy.”

While he continues to spread his message and vintage R&B sound throughout the country, London is also prepping for his debut disc, Man of My Word. If the album title is any indication, London promises to give listeners music in the truest form. “It’s that raw R&B – that’s [what I’m bringing] that’s going to shut everything down.”
