RO Sports Talk: Kobe Bryant Makes Up for Lakers’ Loss

alt

The
matchless performance by Kobe Bryant in last night’s game against the
New York Knicks set a new scoring record in the The Garden and provided
an emotional jolt for the Lakers who just lost Andrew Bynum to injury.
Kobe Bryant put up 61 points in the total 4 periods– the most ever
scored in Madison Square Garden history. He scored 21 of those points
in the first 13 minutes of the game.

Lakers
center Andrew Bynum was an unquestioned asset to the team contributing
42 points in a single game in January. But now, the Lakers have lost
Bynum for 8 to 12 weeks after tearing a medial collateral ligament
(MCL) in his right knee. Bynum was the Lakers third-leading scorer
averaging 14.0 points per game and the second-leading rebounder.

The loss of Bynum will also make room on the court for former
starter Lamar Odom. If Bryant continues to put up outstanding numbers
for his team, the loss of Bynum will become an afterthought for the
Lakers’ who are definitely championship bound. –kim smith
