Atlanta–Former Atlanta Falcons running back Jamal Anderson was arrested and is being held in the Fulton County Jail on drug related charges. The Fulton County sheriff’s office says Anderson and another man were arrested at the Peachtree Tavern in Buckhead. Anderson was denied bail after receiving felony charges for possession of cocaine and marijuana.
Anderson helped the Falcons win their first NFC championship in 1998. He rushed for 1,846 yards and set an NFL record for 410 carries in a season. This was the season that sent him to Pro Bowl. He retired after tearing an ACL in his left knee.
Anderson is known for creating the “dirty bird” touchdown dance. Anderson is scheduled to appear in court on Monday at 11 a.m. rolling out sports will provide the latest update to this story. –kim smith
