Pioneering music producer Teddy Riley explained to the media that he did lay his hands on his daughters when they became extremely disrespectful in his home, but denied that he beat them with a video game guitar, as reported. He also said he did not pummel his daughter Taja’s face with his feet.

Speaking out publicly for the first time since the intra-familial meltdown between Riley and his two daughters, Riley tells TMZ.com that “There is not even a [police] report, because we both called the police” during a very animated impromptu interview on camera.

“I called the police and Tasha called the police,” he continues. “So I told Taja three times, get out of my house. On that third time, I collared her. I did not hit her; I collared her and moved her towards the door. As soon as I moved her towards the door, she came back swinging on me. She caught me once in the face. And as soon as she did that, I said ‘Oh, okay, since you want to do that’ so I pushed her face up against the wall, which is why [her face shows bruises].”

After Riley says he pushed her against the wall and dragged her to the ground, he says that he put his foot on her face to keep her subdued while he fought off the barrage of punches from his other daughter. “Her sister was swinging on me, saying ‘What are you doing to my sister?!?’”

Riley says that he immediately snatched the other sister who was behind him and placed her in front of him so that he could see both of them and prevent being jumped again.

Riley addressed the guitar that the daughters claim Riley beat them with.

“They got back up,” Riley continued. “And when they got back up to swing more, I grabbed the rock guitar … I said I’m going to go across both of your heads if y’all don’t get out of my house right now.”

Riley’s daughter Taja Riley, secured a restraining order from a judge, which reportedly orders Riley to stay 100 feet from her until another hearing this month. Riley did not address what precipitated the melee, which reportedly started because his daughters strenuously object to him dating a woman their ages. Riley didn’t address his daughter’s accusations on Twitter that he pops pills daily to survive.

Riley is the pioneering music genius who created New Jack Swing in the late 80s/early 90s and founded groundbreaking groups, including Guy, Wreckx-N-Effect and Blackstreet. He has written and produced hits for scores of R&B and hip-hop acts and personally produced the entire Dangerous album for Michael Jackson.

Riley was unapologetic in the handling of his daughters, saying: “I handled it like a parent and it should not have gotten out through the media,” Riley concluded. – terry shropshire
